Tanzid, Bruce stretch Strikers sufferings

Chattogram Challengers kept their winning streak after defeating Sylhet Strikers to register the third victory in a row and fourth out of five matches. 

Chattogram, who started the campaign with defeating Sylhet Strikers in Dhaka, earned the fourth win against the Strikers in their returned leg encounter.

However, Sylhet Strikers in bid to break their winning draught after three consecutive defeats, saw another crushing eight wickets defeat to Chattogram Challengers on Monday.

Held at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Strikers decided to bat first after winning toss managed to score 137 runs for four wickets but chasing to an easy target Chattogram lost only two wickets to win the match.  

It was fourth defeat of Strikers from as many matches when they suffered defeat to Chattogram by seven wickets in their first meeting and could not get rid of the frustration as they went down in their next two matches to Rangpur Riders by four wickets and to Comilla Victorians by 52 runs, and suffered the fourth successive defeat.  

After suffering three successive defeats, the fourth encounter turned a very important to win for Strikers just to remain on contention but they could not make it success, the defeat means they have to struggle much to have relieve from the losing agony.

Openers Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Mohammad Mithun coming to open the innings left the crease in quick successions when Billal Khan struck back to back, in a span of six runs.

The Pakistani all-rounder Billal Khans bowled Mithu for just one run and trapped Shanto for five runs and the scoreboard was reading 2/8.

Thanks to three bats at the middle, Strikers could manage to amass at least respectable total 137 runs.

Coming to rebuild the innings, Ireland’s middle order right-handed batter, scored two valuable partnership with Zakir Khan and Ryan Burl to bring the team to 107 runs.

Tector, accompanied by Zakir Khans scored a 57-run from 7.1 overs in third wicket stand and 42 runs with Ryan Burl from 6.1 overs.

Tector scored 45 off 42 balls with two fours and a six, Zakir Khan was a bit quick to score 31 from 26 deliveries hitting four boundaries and a six when Ryan Burl was unbeaten for 34 off 29 balls.

Ariful Haque came at six was unbeaten with 17 off 12 balls.

Chasing to a modest target, Chattogram Challangers saw no trouble but to loss only two wickets to score the winning runs (138) with 2.2 overs to spare and grabbed their fourth wins in a row.

Captain Shuvagata Hom offered his wicket to Tanzid Hasan after scoring 17 runs with the team’s total 23. Tanzid Hasan with one down Tom Bruce scored 89 runs from 11.1 overs when the former scored just a 50 off 40 balls when he hit three fours and a couple of sixes and the latter was also very quick to score unbeaten 51 from 44 deliveries with three boundaries and two over boundaries.
