Tamim, Mominul blazes in BCL

Bangladesh experienced Test opener Tamim Iqbal scored an unbeaten double hundred while skipper Mominul Haque notched up a century to help Islamic Bank East Zone take a healthy lead against Walton Central Zone at the end of second days play at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Saturday, reports agencies.

Tamim made unbeaten 222 runs while Mominul scored 111 runs as East Zone made 395-2 at the close of the day to earn a healthy lead of 182 runs with eight wickets in hand. Tamim looked determined to display his stroke-making ability as he scored 222 runs in ODI mood. Tamim was in marauding mood today with his bat and almost playing like one-day style in the four-day match.

He ended up scoring 222 runs of 281 balls with the help of 30 boundaries and along with Mominul added 296 runs partnership for the second wicket Bangladesh Test captain Mominul Haque also scored a hundred in the same day before he was out for 111 runs.

Both the senior members of the national team got some much-needed batting practice ahead of the tour of Pakistan for the opening Test of the two-match series. Shuvagata Hom Chowdhury and Mukidul Islam Mugdho bagged one wicket each for  Walton central zone.
