After the death of Professor Ali Ashraf, Freedom fighter and former Cumilla-7 MP on July-30, the post on the seat was declared vacant.
Now, there is discussion and speculation everywhere who will be the contestant from AL for the post. it is learnt, many local AL leaders have already started massive lobbying to get nomination as a contestant for the post. Many of them are also started mass-contact ensuring people that if they are nominated and elected, they will finish the unfinished development works launched by former MP Ali Ashraf.
According to sources there are two vital candidates in Chandina. They are Muttakin Ashraf Titu, Director of FBCCI and son of deceased MP Ali Ashraf and the other is Dr. Pran Gopal Dutta, former personal physician of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
