Shanta Islam is an assistant teacher of Panchadha Government Primary School under Maizkhapon Union of Sadar Upazila in Kishoreganj, now recognize as artisans of men.
Shanta Islam took an initiative with the help of Shilpi Rani Dutta, the acting head teacher of this school to open a shop named ‘Satata store’ in 2018.
She is a highly respected person among the guardians as well as students.
Profits from selling books, pens, new school dresses of ‘Satata store’ are being spent for the under-previlleged students.
However, there were no standard food shops for 2 kilometers near the school. During tiffin time, an old man from Panchadha village used to come and sell unhealthy foods at the school grounds.
As a result, students faced food poisioning and many water-borne diseases like diarrhoes, cholera, desentry by eating unhygienic foods.
Guardians said that this greatness of Shanta should be an example for other teachers. She stands beside the unlucky students with her all potency, which is a very rare example at present. Shilpi Rani Dutta said the ‘Satata store’ was started with the support of Shanta. Her generosity for the students will be a unique example in the society.
