Notably, there has been a decline in the trend of talented individuals seeking career opportunities abroad.
Industries Minister Noorul Majid Mahmud Humayun highlighted that the world is gearing up for the 4th Industrial Revolution, with Prime Minister emphasizing key factors for its success. These include industrial development through innovative technology, the creation of a skilled workforce, and environmental conservation. Bangladesh is committed to fulfilling the dream of ‘Sonar Bengal’ envisioned by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman through eco-friendly green industrialization.
Additionally, the Ministry of Industry is taking multifaceted initiatives to address the challenges of the 4th Industrial Revolution and create a sustainable industry by harnessing its full potential.
The remarks were made during the opening ceremony of the ‘On-Campus Hiring Event 2023’ for recently graduated engineers, organized by the Research and Innovation Center for Science and Engineering (RISE) at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).
The event took place at the BUET premises in the capital and was attended by esteemed personalities, including BUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Kazi Shahidullah, Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), Professor Dr. Abdul Jabbar, BUET Vice-Chancellor, and chief executives from several private organizations.
BUET has played a vital role in education and research since its establishment. In 2020, "RISE" was established to expedite research activities. Since then, RISE has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with 40 domestic and foreign institutions, conducting 45 funded research projects.
Additionally, BUET allocates Tk 2 crore annually for ten selected internal research projects through RISE. These initiatives underscore the commitment of Bangladesh's academic and industrial sectors to foster innovation and growth in the country.
