The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Women and Children Affairs on Sunday proposed taking effective steps to arrange swimming training across the country to prevent child drowning.
The committee came up with the proposal at its 39th meeting held at the JatiyaSangsad (JS) Bhaban with its chairman MeherAfroz in the chair, an official release said.

Mannan and AfrozaHaque were present at the meeting.
The committee discussed various issues including progress on budget implementation, the Joyeeta Foundation and preventing child drowning at the meeting.
The committee recommended taking the necessary steps to inaugurate Joyeeta Tower at a convenient time in October, 2023, continuing proceedings to construct Joyeeta Tower in every divisional town and establishing a stall of Joyeeta in the third terminal of HazratShahjalal International Airport.
Apart from these, the JS body recommended taking appropriate measures to boost the performance of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs and extending tenures of different projects before their terms end.
Secretary of the ministry, heads of different departments, the managing director of Joyeeta Foundation and officials concerned with the parliament secretariat were present at the meeting, among others.
