Students of Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Nursing College in Gazipur staged demonstrations on yesterday blocking the Rajbari road in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office to protest against the alleged misconduct of three instructors.

The agitating students alleged that the three instructors—Md. Jamal Uddin Bhuiyan, Md. Tajul Islam, and Md. Mokhlesur Rahman—were involved in irregularities and misbehaved with them on several occasions. To press home their demands, the students submitted a memorandum to the college authorities seeking the immediate transfer of the accused instructors.

The demonstration began in the morning as hundreds of nursing students gathered in front of the DC office. They first blocked the road for nearly an hour, causing traffic congestion in the area. Later, they formed a human chain before staging a sit-in on the premises of the DC office.

Students said their academic environment has been severely hampered due to the behavior of the instructors, which, according to them, is affecting their studies and practical training. “We have been facing humiliation and irregularities for a long time. Now we want a proper solution,” one of the protesting students told reporters.

After receiving the memorandum, Md. Motasem Billah, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Gazipur, met with the students and assured them that the authorities would take necessary steps to resolve the issue. Following his assurance, the students withdrew from the road and ended their demonstration peacefully.

The situation in the college returned to normal by the afternoon, but students warned that they would go for tougher movements if their demands are not fulfilled soon.
