Taijul gets eight puts BCB XI on top

Bangladesh Cricket Board XI will push for a victory on the final day after ending the third day’s play with a 189-run lead against Vidarbha Cricket Association thanks to an eight-wicket haul from Taijul Islam in their ‘B’ Zone opening match of the  DR (Capt) K Thimmappiah Memorial Tournament in Karnataka on Friday, reports Agencies.

Taijul claimed 8-89 to help bowl out Vidarbha for 353 in their first innings while replying to BCB XI’s first innings score of 500-7 declared and the visitors finished the day on 42-1.

Earlier, Vidarbha resumed play on 114-1 and Taijul ran through the VIdarbha batting line-up, picking seven wickets on the day to add to his lone wicket on the previous day, with Taskin

Ahmed and Ariful Haque claiming the remaining two wickets.

Atharva Deshpande top-scored for Vidarbha with 91 and Akshay Kolhar (62) also struck a fifty but their efforts were not enough for their side to avoid a first innings deficit.

In reply, BCB XI lost Jahurul Islam in the latter part of the day for 25 while Saif Hasan and the centurion from first innings Mominul Haque remained unbeaten on 15 and one respectively.
