Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani are teaming up for the sequel of the 2007 horror-comedy 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa', which had featured Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan and Shiney Ahuja. Produced by Bhushan Kumar and Murad Khetani, and directed by Anees Bazmee, the film went on floors in Mumbai on October 9. Now, we have learnt, that Tabu is the newest entrant in Kartik and Kiara’s ghost story.
“Tabu has been in talks with the makers for a while now. She loved the script and her role. She is expected to join the cast in January when the second three-month schedule kicks off in London and Rajasthan,” revealed a source close to the development.
In the 2017 horror-comedy, the Rohit Shetty-directorial 'Golmaal Again', Tabu played Anna Mathew who can interact with ghosts. “Though it’s the same genre, there’s nothing in common between the two films and Tabu’s character, too, is dramatically different and one of the USPs of the film,” the source added.
Buzz is, there’s a surprise twist to this one too. “But while 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa' was a psychological-thriller with lots of laughs, the sequel is a proper horror-comedy with plenty of spooky moments,” informs the source.
Kartik Aaryan recently took to social media to release the first look of the film and in the photo, Kartik was clad in a saffron kurta pyjama with a trishul in his hand, and alongside, he wrote, “Ghostbuster is all set to enter Hare Ram Hare Ram Hare Krishna Hare Ram #Bhoolbhulaiyaa2.” While Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan starrer, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, was a psychological thriller, it’s sequel is a proper horror comedy with plenty of spooky moments.
Post coming on board, Kiara had said that Bhool Bhulaiyaa was the first ever horror film that she watched and she is super excited to get the opportunity to be a part of the franchise. While the 2007 horror comedy film was helmed by Priyadarshan, the film was an official remake of the Mohanlal and Shobana starrer 1993 Malayalam film Manichitrathazhu. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is scheduled to be released on July 31, 2020.
