The symbol has been allotted to the candidates who are contesting in the by-election of Jashore-6 seat. District election officer Humayun Kabir gave the symbol to the party candidates and their representatives from the district election office on Moday. Three candidates of Awami League, BNP and Jatiya Party are participating in this election in Jashore-6 constituency.

District election office sources said, among them general secretary of Keshabpur upazila Awami League Gazi Golam Mostafa received the boat symbol for the Awami League nominated candidate on behalf of the district Awami League general secretary Shaheen Chakladar, BNP candidate Abul Hessen Azad received the sheaf of paddy symbol and Jatiya Party candidate Habibur Rahman received the Plough symbol.

After receiving the symbol, the Awami League leaders expressed their conviction about their candidate's victory in the upcoming election. They said that the Awami League was working sincerely in the event of a fair and neutral election.  Their candidature will be won by the participation and support of the people. On the other hand, the candidate of the BNP and the Jatiya Party have expressed skepticism about a fair and neutral election.

They claimed that if the administration and the Election Commission did not play a neutral role, there would be no fair and participatory election in Keshabpur. In this regard, district election officer and returning officer Humayun Kabir said, we are working for free, fair and participatory election in Jashore-6 constituency. He sought the cooperation of all in this regard.

It is to be noted that the seat was vacated when Ismat Ara Ara Sadek, a Member of Parliament from Jashore-6 constituency and former Public Administration Minister, died on January 27 last. The by-election will be held next 29 March, sources said.#
