UNB, Sylhet: Rail communication between Sylhet and the rest of the country was restored on Tuesday morning, three hours after four bogies of a train derailed at Moglabazar in Sylhet district.
Abul Kuddus, officer-in-charge of Sylhet Railway Police Station, said four bogies, including the locomotive of the Sylhet-bound ‘Udayan Express’ from Chattogram, went off the tracks around 6:40 am, disrupting train services on the route.
Twenty passengers sustained injuries in the incident and received first aid.
On information, a fire service team rushed to the spot and, with the help of locals, rescued the stranded passengers.
Sylhet Railway Station Manager Nurul Islam said train movement resumed around 9:30 am.
Following the restoration of services, the Kalni Express, which had remained stranded at Sylhet Station, departed for Dhaka.
