Due to the lack of manpower, Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institution (BSTI) of Sylhet region is struggling to keep food hygienic.

However, concerned authority remains silent about the serious issue against the strong demand.

Beside the manpower shortage, the authority depends on the District Administration office to conduct any drive.

They said that have no magistrate to carry out the drive to detect the adulterated products.

According to the BSTI sources, there are seven of 25 posts are vacant for the long in Sylhet BSTI office. Beside the manpower shortage, they are suffering for want of modern equipment to detect the substandard products.

Shafi ullah Khan, deputy director of Sylhet BSTI said, we are aware to keep the product quality in a standard level through our mobile court program.

But we have to depend on DC office for any drive. We need more manpower and modern equipment to conduct our job smoothly.
