As recognition of its internationally standard and sustainable research, Sylhet Agricultural University (SAU) has been included in the database of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations.

Various time-befitting research projects result conducted by the researchers of Sylhet Agricultural University — funded by different national and international organizations — are being regularly published in high-impact factor journals, including the Journal of Sylhet Agricultural University (JSAU).

As a recognition of this ongoing contribution, SAU has officially been listed in FAO’s International System for Agricultural Science and Technology (AGRIS) database.

The FAO’s global database has formally integrated SAU’s journal, 'JSAU' into its worldwide agricultural science platform. As a result, SAU’s research will now enjoy greater international visibility, global acknowledgment of Bangladesh’s contribution to agricultural science, and enhanced institutional credibility for all published works. The university has also been assigned a unique institutional ID (BDO) within the database.

On the inclusion of SAU in the internationally renowned 'AGRIS' database, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. Md. Alimul Islam, said that the inclusion of SAU journal 'JSAU' in the database of the UNFAO is an important international recognition. This recognition will play a positive role in the global ranking of the university. 'JSAU' has already been included in DOI indexing and BanglaJol platform. He wished all the teachers, researchers and students of the university, including all those concerned, success in the future. It is worth noting that the journal has been published regularly since 2014 under the supervision of Sylhet Agricultural University Research System (SAURES).
