Sylhet-3 MP Samad buried

Mahmud Us Samad Chowdhury, MP from Sylhet-3 constituency, was buried at his family graveyard in front of his residence ‘Nurpur Borobari’ at Fenchuganj upazila in Sylhet after Juma prayers on Friday.

Before burial, the last Namaz-e-Janaza of the MP was held at his village. Awami League leaders and leaders of different parties and thousands of people from all walks of life took part in the Namaz-e-Janaza. 

Meanwhile, a number of ministers and state ministers on Friday expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Sylhet District Awami League vice-president and lawmaker from Sylhet-3 constituency Mahmud Us Samad Chowdhury.

In separate condolence messages, they prayed for eternal peace of his departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.

The cabinet members, who condoled Samad’s death, are Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen, Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque, State Minister for Water Resources Ministry Zaheed Farooque and Deputy Minister for Water Resources AKM Enamul Haque Shameem.

Mahmud Us Samad Chowdhury died from Covid-19 while undergoing treatment at the United Hospital in Dhaka on Thursday afternoon at the age of 67.

The MP was unwell for a few days and his condition suddenly deteriorated while returning to Dhaka from Sylhet on Sunday. Upon reaching Dhaka, he was rushed to the hospital.

On Monday, he was tested for Covid-19 and the report came positive. As his physical condition deteriorated, he was put on ventilation.

On February 10, the MP received his first dose of coronavirus vaccine and had no adverse effect.
