Syed Faridul Islam joins UCB as AMD

Syed Faridul Islam has recently joined United Commercial Bank Limited (UCB) as additional managing director (AMD).

Prior to joining UCB, he was the deputy managing director & chief risk officer of Prime Bank Limited and looking after credit, information security, credit administration and risk management division of the Bank, said a press release.

Syed Faridul Islam played a very pivotal role in restructuring business model for both SME banking, consumer banking, branch network including trade services and cash management under central operations of Prime Bank. He also set up Prime Bank’s retail and SME collection and special asset management model. He firmly contributed to implementation and upgradation of core banking, card management system and Tier 3 data center of the Bank.

He was also head of SME Banking, BRAC Bank and reorganizing small segment and centralization of CRM. He worked for Standard Chartered Bank and successfully launched SME business products there.

He was head of Medium Business, Standard Chartered Bank, Bangladesh.

Islam has 35 years of banking experience, covering in branch management, business process reengineering, and IT integration. At ANZ Bank, Melbourne, Australia, he played key role in product and parameter analysis. He was member of core implementation team of system integration for ANZ Grindlays Bank, Bangladesh and India. He started his career at Grindlays Bank in 1984. 

Islam has a Bachelor of Commerce degree and he is also certified ‘Credit Professional’ from OMEGA in UK organized by Standard Chartered Group, London. He attended numerous training courses, seminars, workshops and conferences locally and overseas.
