Swimming, football, athletics talent hunt prog for U-15 boys and girls

Swimming, football and athletics training for Under-15 boys and girls started in Munshiganj District on the occasion of the “Youth Festival 2025” on Tuesday. 

A total of 120 students from 10 educational institutions of the district participated in the selection process for swimming, football and athletics training. 

From the 120 participants in the preliminary stage, 40 boys and 40 girls picked up from each event for the training camp.  

The training programme will continue for 21 sessions.  From this training programme, talented boys and girls swimmers, athletes and 

football players will get the opportunity to participate in competitions 

organised by the Sports Department at the national level.  

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Fatema Tul Jannat inaugurated the training programme as 

the chief guest at the indoor stadium along with the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC General) Ataul Gani Osmani presided over the opening ceremony.  

Fatema Tul Jannnat, the chief guest in her address said that such training programmes at the upazila and district levels are effective steps to find talented players from the grass roots. 

“There is no alternative to sports activities for physical and mental development. Children will develop as ideal people through participation in sports,” said Fatema Tul Jannnat.   

The training started under the annual sports programme 2024-2025 of the Directorate of Sports, organised by the District Administration and the District Sports Office in association with the District Sports Organisation. 

It was also attended by Deputy Director of Youth Development Department and Member Secretary of District Sports Association Md. Nasir Uddin while District Sports Officer (Current Duty) Suman Kumar Mitra.
