Satrajit Sen who had made his directorial debut with Michael is gearing up for his next project which is a fantasy-comedy. While Swastika Mukherjee and Sayani Dutta are set to play the two female leads, the male lead is yet to be finalised.
If all goes according plan, the film will go on floors by November or December. According to a source close to the development, shooting will be done partly in Kolkata and France or England.
Though Satrajit is tight-lipped about the storyline, we hear the film revolves around a person who spends half of his life in Kolkata and the rest in another part of the world. The film is expected to be announced by the end of this month.
Satrajit’s first film ‘Michael’ received critical acclaims. It plots Mir Afsar Ali aka Mir as a senior executive in a fitness and sports goods firm, who dreams of becoming a filmmaker. In his pursuit of filmmaking, Mir gets acquainted with yesteryear legend, Mayurbahan (Soumitra Chatterjee). While Mir is trying to make his dream a reality, Mayurbahan is on the pursuit of one last glory on the big screen. But Mir's wife, Shinjini (Swastika Mukherjee), isn't too happy with his decisions.
Meanwhile, Swastika Mukherjee will be next seen in director Arjunn Dutta’s next film ‘Guldasta’. The film will see two actresses Arpita Chatterjee, Swastika Mukherjee sharing screen together for the first time.
The film is a women-centric film which will feature three female characters in the central role. The third woman character will be played by Debjani Chatterjee. The story will be about the crisis in the life of the three protagonists and how they are dealing with their hardship.
Shooting for the film is scheduled to start towards the end of September at different locations of Kolkata and Arunachal Pradesh. —Spotboye
