To commemorate the 71st birth anniversary of Natyacharya Selim Al Deen, theatre troupe Swapnadal is organizing a two-day ceremony titled ‘Natyacharya Selim Al Deen Janmotsab 2020’ online today and tomorrow, August 18-19.
In the 22nd edition of Swapnadal’s regular festival commemorating the Natyacharya’s birth and death anniversary, their slogan is ‘Tradition-Rabindranath-Selim Al-Din, Bangla Natyer Shilpa Shokti Anbe Notun Din.’
On the first day of the festival, a webinar titled ‘Hargoj: Ek Bhanga Bhuboner Dhushor Pandulipir Monchorup’ will be held on Facebook Live today at 8 pm with discussions on Natyacharya’s life, work and philosophy.
Swapnadal member Ali Hasan will present the main article. Thespian Ataur Rahman, playwright Nasir Uddin Yusuf, playwright Professor Afsar Ahmed, Indian playwright-critic Anshuman Bhowmik and members of Swapnadal will participate in the discussion as guests. Thespian Zahid Ripon, the chief editor of Swapnadal will moderate it.
On the second day, tomorrow, at 8 pm, the online digital premiere of the time-honored creation ‘Hargoj’ by the playwright Selim Al Deen under the direction of Swapnadal Production’s Zahid Ripon will be held.
The two-day program of ‘Natyacharya Selim Al Deen Janmotsab 2020’ will be aired on Facebook from Zahid Ripon’s Facebook ID.
Incidentally, Selim Al Deen’s play ‘Hargoj’ is about the experience of the catastrophic tornado in Manikganj a long time ago. The production of ‘Hargoj’ is based on the traditional ‘Bangla Natyareet’ invented by Rabindranath-Selim Al Deen.
