Theatre troupe Swapnadal staged the 107th show of its acclaimed anti-war play ‘Tringsha Shatabdi’ at Studio Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Monday.
‘Tringsha Shatabdi’ is an adaptation of Indian playwright Badal Sircar’s work with the same title. The play has been adapted and directed by Zahid Repon.
The play mainly portrays genocides that took place at different times in the world through interrogations of some historical characters like Einstein (who invented the theory of making atom bomb), Major Ferebee (the pilot of the aircraft that dropped the bomb on Hiroshima), and Major Claude Eatherly (who carried the nuclear bomb to Nagasaki and later became insane on his realisation of the crime).
Besides, it also addresses liberation war of Bangladesh, 2003 invasion of Iraq, on-going conflicts in the Middle East, Christchurch mosque shootings, attack on Nusrat in Feni and others.
Earlier, the troupe staged the play at performing arts festival in Japan titled ‘Festival/Tokyo 2018’, British festival titled ‘A Season of Bangla Drama Festival-15’ and two festivals in India.
Swapnadal artistes Juayna Shabnam, Fazle Rabbi Shukorno, Samad Bhuinya, Shishir Shikdar, Shakhawat Shaymol, Zahid Ripon and others acted in the play.
