Recitation troupe Swanan celebrated its 34th founding anniversary organising a programme at Sufia Kamal Auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum on Tuesday.
Thespian and recitation artiste Suborna Mustafa inaugurated the event titled ‘Trishna Niyei Shilpa Karukaj’.
Director General of Bangla Academy poet Habibullah Siraji was present as the chief guest and recitation artiste Jayanta Chattopadhyay was present as special guest at the event.
Swanan artistes presented uttariyos to the guests, who inaugurated the celebration programme lighting candles.
Renowned recitation artistes Nazmul Ahsan, Manzur Rahman, Mustafa Kamal Rony, Mashrura Lucky, Shammin Sultana Munni and others were also present.
President of Swanan Rupa Chakraborty delivered the welcome speech.
Renowned dancer and teacher of Dhaka University Rachel Priyanka Perris presented a dance recital synchronised with a poem.
Artistes recited around 25 poems addressing diverse topics including love, patriotism, nature, human relationship and others penned by many renowned poets.
Nazmul Ahsan recited the poem Esho tobe o baghini, Rupa Chakraborty recited Pantum, Shoilendra Biswas recited Hothath Dekha, Shammin Sultana Munni recited Tomra Jekhane Shadh, Shahadat Hossain Hridoy and Mahin Ahmed recited Koutor Icchegulo 1, 2, Muna Chowdhury recited Karo Karo Jonnyo Emon and Nasrin Bina recited Uttar Akash respectively penned by Nasir Ahmed, Maruful Islam, Rabindranath Tagore, Jibanananda Das, Jiya Haydar, Taslima Nasrin and Muhamman Nurul Huda.
Besides, Swanan artistes recited poems penned by Nirmalendu Goon, Kamal Chowdhury, Bimal Guha, Ruby Rahman and others to the delight of the audience.
