Bangladesh government is emphasizing on sustainable public procurement with the aim of ensuring timely implementation of the development works through transparency and accountability to make the best use of public money. Sustainable public procurement implementation will effectively help the process of building Smart Bangladesh.
To make government procurement easy and hassle-free, the Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU) under the Implementation Monitoring Evaluation Division (IEMD) of the Ministry of Planning is implementing the e-GP under the Digitizing Implementation Monitoring and Public Procurement Project (DIMAPPP) funded by the World Bank. In order to create mass awareness on this issue, an orientation program on public procurement and e-GP forthe journalists was arranged on Sunday, March 05, 2023, at DC Office, Mymensingh, where Director, CPTU and Joint Secretary (IMED) Md. Mahfuzar Rahman made the mentioned remarksas the chief guest.
The program was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Mymensingh Mahfuzul Alam Masum. Over 50 journalists working at national and local news media participated in the event. Assistant Commissioner Manoranjan Barman and General Secretary of Mymensingh Press Club Amit Roy were present.
Bangladesh Center for Communications Program (BCCP) provided support as media consultant in organizing the event of CPTU.
The program was organized to inform journalists about the importance of public procurement and e-GP and its importance in development activities. Apart from this, the progress on e-GP implementation was highlighted and discussed in the program.
Dr. Zeenat Sultana, Program Director, BCCP delivered the welcome address and Meher Afroz, Consultant, BCCP, made a presentation about e-GP. Andalib Bin Haque, Head of Technology and Innovation, DNet, gave a presentation on Citizen Portal. Program Manager of BCCP Md. Abduls Salam conducted the program.
