Suspected corona patient dies in Sherpur, samples collected

Abdul Awal, a construction worker died of fever and shortness of breath after three days at Dakkhin Palashikura village of Nalitabari upazila in Sherpur on Sunday night.

The administration has locked down at least ten houses in that area after the incident. Meanwhile, villagers speculate that the deceased could have been infected with corona virus as he had fever and shortness of breath. 

However, UP member Nurul Haque of Palashikura village told reporters that Abdul Awal was suffering from shortness of breath since long. After coming home on vacation, he died suddenly at his own home due to sudden increase in fever and shortness of breath.

When the villagers suspected that he had died of the corona virus infection terror was spread. Later, the District Health Department and the local administration took initiative to collect samples. 

Meanwhile, the district health department informed the IEDCR team but as they were unable to come local medical team collected samples from dead body.

The sample will be sent to the IEDCR today and the report will be available within three days, said Civil Surgeon AKM Anwarur Rauf. Nalitbari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Arifur Rahman said, "We have collected samples locally. After the report comes, it could be said whether the person was infected with corona virus or not. 

If the report is positive, those buildings will remain in lockdown for 14 days and according to the IEDCR directive, arrangements will be made for the burial by the Islamic Foundation.
