A new trust fund titled ‘Suruchi Bala Paul Trust Fund’ has been established at Dhaka University (DU). Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman was present on this occasion as chief guest.
Chief Financial Officer of Mercantile Bank Limited Dr. Tapash Chandra Paul handed over a cheque for Tk. 20 lac to DU Treasurer Prof. Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed on Monday (May 22) at the VC’s Lounge of the university to set up this trust fund for perpetuating the memory of his mother. Dean of Biological Sciences Prof. Dr. AKM Mahbub Hasan and some members of donor’s family were present on this occasion. Out of the income of this trust fund every year some meritorious and financially challenged students from the departments of Management, Economics, Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Pharmacy and Electrical & Electronic Engineering of DU will be given scholarships.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman thanked the donor for setting up this trust fund. He hoped that meritorious and financially challenged students of Dhaka University would be highly benefited and inspired by this Trust Fund.
