Summer National Sports Competition opens in Mymensingh

The 49th Summer National Sports Competition 2022 organised by the Bangladesh National School, Madrasa and Technical Education Sports Association was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni MP at Bhasha Sainik Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh city on Thursday morning (October 20) on a grand scale by releasing balloons, festoons an pigeons. .

496 student-athletes are participating in a total of 10 events in the 49th Summer National Sports Competition 2022 under the management of Mymensingh Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education. In this competition, the competition is being divided into 4 regions: Padma, Golap, Bakul and Champa from all over the country.

State Minister for Housing and Public Works Sharif Ahmed MP, Deputy Minister of Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, Secretary of Secondary and Higher Education Department Md. Abu Bakar Siddique, Secretary of Technical and Madrasa Education Department Md. Kamal Hossain, Mayor of Mymensingh City Corporation Md. Ikramul Haque Titu were special guests on the occasion. Divisional Commissioner Md Shafikur Reza Biswas, Range DIG Devdas Bhattacharya. Director General of Secondary and Higher Education Directorate Prof. Nehal Ahmed chaired the event and Chairman of Mymensingh Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board Prof. Dr. Gazi Hasan Kamal delivered the welcome speech. Other guests were Director of Secondary and Higher Education Directorate (Q&Q) Prof. Shahedul Khabir Chowdhury, Dhaka Board Chairman Prof. Tapan Kumar Sarkar, Madrasa Board Chairman Prof. Kaysar Ahmed, Jessore Board Chairman Prof. Dr. Md. Ahsan Habib, Rajshahi Board Chairman Prof. Md. Habibur Rahman, Chittagong Board Chairman Prof. Mustafa Kamrul Akhtar, Mymensingh Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Enamul Haque and others.

While addressing the function as the chief guest, the education minister said that the summer national sports competition is one of the biggest secondary level sports competitions in the country. 496 student athletes are participating in this competition after passing the upazila, district, sub-region, regional competitions.

The education minister said that Bangabandhu is the creator of secondary sports competition. To build Bangabandhu's golden Bangladesh, a sports-friendly environment should be developed through healthy sports practices. Students should stay away from drugs, terrorism, militancy and develop themselves through healthy sports practices. In his speech, the Education Minister emphasized more importance to creative education than academic education and mentioned that the government's initiative and support will continue to build an energetic population in science, education and sports.

Mayor of Mymensingh City Corporation while speaking as a special guest. Ikramul Haque Titu said that this competition is an example of the importance given to education as well as sports by the current government. Players are emerging from the grassroots through this kind of organization. The special guests in their speech thanked everyone involved in organizing the event.

In the event (football, handball, kabaddi, chess and swimming), 496 students from all over the country in four regions are competing at Bhasha Sainik Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium, Circuit House Ground and District Women's Sports Association Ground. Padma region has Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions (blue jersey), Golap region has Khulna and Barisal (purple jersey), Bakul region has Chittagong, Comilla and Sylhet (green jersey) and Champa region has Rajshahi and Rangpur (red jersey).

Minister of State for Culture K. M Khalid MP will distribute the prizes among the winners of the sports competition.
