Sujeya Shyam infected with corona

Musician and composer Sujeya Shyam of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra has been infected with coronavirus. Family sources and relatives have confirmed the matter.

Music director Farid Ahmed said the artiste received coronavirus positive results from Kurmitola General Hospital in the capital on Saturday (May 30th). He was then admitted there.

Earlier, on May 26, the artiste was admitted to a private hospital in Shyamoli due to respiratory problems. He was taken to Kurmitola General Hospital on May 27. 

The artiste returned home after submitting Corona test samples there. After receiving positive results on May 30, the National Film Award winning musician was admitted to Kurmitola Hospital.

Among the songs sung by Sujeya Shyam on Swadhin Bangla Betar during the War of Liberation were ‘Bijoy Nishan Urchhe’, ‘Rokto Diye naam Likhechi’, ‘Muktir Eki Path Sangram and other famous titles. 

He won the first National Film Award for his music for the film ‘Hasan Raja’ (2002) about Hasan Raja. He also sang a song in the film at the special request of filmmaker Nazrul Islam. He later won the same award in 2004 and 2010 for directing music for the films ‘Jayjatra’ and ‘Abujh Bou’.
