Sushasoner Jonno Nagorik, a civil society organisation campaigning for good governance, organised a human chain in Jhenaidah on Saturday demanding mutual understanding and discussion among the political parties to end the ongoing crisis.

The human chain was formed at Jhenaidah post office intersection. More than one hundred people including SUJAN activists, civil society members, professional and human rights activists had participated in the human chain with banner, and festoon.

SUJAN local unit president Aminur Rahman Tuku, retired vice principal Sushendu Kumar Bhowmik, human rights activist Hafizur Rahman, Jahidul Islam, Kazi Abdur Razzaque, Mahmud Hoosain among others spoke.

Speakers in the human chain said each and every political party including the ruling party should sit for a dialogue for the interest of the people when the national polls was knocking at the doors.

‘Our problem is neither the partisan government nor the caretaker government. If we get stuck on the issue, the confrontation will never end.

Our main problem is to ensure the right to vote and the problem is continuing to exist after the War of Independence,’ speakers said.

They said that the right to vote and democracy were not an internal matter of the country, but rather an international issue as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights ensured the right to vote.

They also urged all political parties to come forward to solve the crisis through dialogue.
