Sugarcane cultivation increases in Chuadanga

A huge amount of land has been taken under sugarcane cultivation in four upazilas of Chuadanga district this season. 

Chuadanga District Agriculture Extension Department sources added, a total of 1129 hectares of land has been brought under sugarcane 

cultivation whereas production target has been fixed about 84675 metric tons of sugarcane by cultivation on the land. 

The upazila wise breaks up are- 780 hectares of land in Chuadanga Sadar Upazila, 29 hectares of land in Alamdanga Upazila, 40 hectares of land in Damurhuda Upazila and 280 hectares of land in Jibannagar Upazila. 

About 58,500 metric tons of sugarcane production target has been fixed in Sadar upazila, 2175 metric tons in Alamdanga upazila, 3000 metric tons in Damurhuda upazila and 21000 metric tons in Jibannagar upazila.  

Bevash Chandra Saha, Deputy Director of Chuadanga Agriculture Extension Depatment, sugarcane cultivation is a long term cash crop. So those who have a lot of land they cultivate sugarcane only on their lands.
