Fisheries and Livestock Minister Rezaul Karim has said that those who do not respect the Mujibnagar government are the successors of the Pakistani oppressors.
The minister made the remarks while addressing a discussion meeting organized by Pirojpur district administration on the occasion of historic Mujibnagar Day on Sunday afternoon.
In this regard, the Minister further said that the historic Mujibnagar Day represents the first birthplace of independent Bangladesh of Bengali nationality. From where the official state system of Bangladesh started. But there is still a section in Bangladesh who do not respect the Mujibnagar government. They do not observe Mujibnagar Day. They do not respect Bangabandhu. They are the successors of Pakistani oppressors. Those who do not accept the first independent government of Bangladesh, do not respect the first president of independent Bangladesh, do not observe Mujibnagar Day, the question remains whether they believe in Bangladesh. They believe in Pakistani thought and consciousness.
Noting that Mujibnagar Day is very important in the history of the Bengali nation, the Minister added, "The sun of Bangladesh's independence rose from the formation of Mujibnagar government. Speaking of the first government of Bangladesh, the independent Bengali government conducted the war of liberation of Bangladesh first inside the country and later in exile and worked for the recognition of Bangladesh in the international arena. Rezaul Karim further said that the independent Bengali government was our first step towards the independence of the country. There was a conspiracy of some people to form a confederation with Pakistan to overthrow this independent Bengal government. Their conspiracy did not succeed. After independence, when Bangabandhu returned to the country on January 10, our independence was complete. Bangladesh without Bangabandhu was incomplete. Victory without Bangabandhu was our incomplete victory. By brutally assassinating Bangabandhu on 15 August 1975, the assassins thought that they could kill the Bangladesh of the Liberation War. But Bangabandhu is an indestructible being. Bangabandhu is an ideal, a belief.
Highlighting the country's development progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Rezaul Karim also said that the whole of Bangladesh is moving towards development.
But whenever we lose our way, we have to go back to our existence, to our roots. Bangladesh today is independent-sovereign. This Bangladesh was started on 17th April at Amrakanan in Meherpur as our independent Bangladesh government officially started work with oath. We have to look for that root, we have to respect it.
