Samad Talukder ,65, of Bashila village under Naldanga Upazila of Natore, a visually impaired artisan, did not face defeat in the struggle of life.  Though he cannot see through his eyes, he is an expert cottage artisan and was making various baskets, large dhamas (basket of rattan) with bamboo and mouth folds (masks) for cattle heads with yarns. He can perform almost all work of his family. He can clean weeds from the crop field and gardens, collect fodders for cattle heads and cut the straw for feeding the cattle. After performing his daily work, he walked one kilometre of dirt-filled kancha road to reach the Mosque to say his prayers.

Samad Talukder receives a small amount of Disabled Allowance and lives with his wife, two daughters and one son in a single-room mud and bamboo-made house. His two daughters are already married and his son works as Labourer in others' fielda. Elderly Samad Talukder now even can not hear distinctly. By watching the activities of blind Samad Talukder, many people are astonished. With his strong willpower and endevour, Samad Talukder works almost like a normal man. His wife, son and daughters also assist him in his work.   Local residents Zahidul Islam, Adon Talukder, Alekjan Bewa and Belal Hossain informed, Samad Talukder can not see but works as an expert artisan. He can make Dhama, Dali ( basket) and mouth folds for cattle heads. He alone visits the local market and the mosque. He can also perform all the work of his family.

He is living in utter misery with his wife and son in a single-roomed house. They requested the government and the generous people to come forward to assist Samad Talukder.

Sumon Sarker, Upazila Social Welfare Officer of Naldanga said, he would visit the house of Samad Talukder and manage a loan without any interest if he wants to set up a shop.
