The indomitable courage and determination of Md Nuruddin at Ramkrishnapur village of Chandraganj in Lakshmipur Sadar has created a path where he can thrive. He learnt the secret to success that totally changed her fortune. He overcame all hurdles with his diligent work.
In his early years of life, he had a keen desire to study. But he could not continue his study as he lost his father in 1971. Apart from his house, his family did not have much land. He started a small tea stall in Dhaka and became unemployed after the terrible flood of 1988. He returned to his village home in Ramakrishnapur, Chandraganj.
At that time, after going to the local tree fair in Chandraganj, he desired that he could produce seedlings himself. From then on, he started producing seedlings.
Nuruddin started a nursery in 1998 on 20 acres of land. With a capital of just six Tk6,000, he started journey with about twenty different types of fruit and flower seedlings. He saw profit in the first year.
Currently, he is producing more than two hundred types of seedlings. He is also producing fruits. All kinds of fruits, flowers, forest plants, herbs, spices and all kinds of fruit, flower, spice and vegetable seedlings are available in his nursery throughout the year. In the meantime, he has built the largest nursery in the district.
He is producing seedlings in five nurseries on three and a half acres of land. He has purchased one and a half acres of this land. It has a collection of more than two hundred seedlings. No one has such a large collection in the greater Noakhali and Cumilla regions. He is selling seedlings worth six to seven lakh taka per month.
Every day, men and women from Noakhali, Feni, Cumilla, Chandpur, Sonaimuri and other nearby districts come to his nursery to buy seedlings. He does not have any such seedlings. His specialty is giving away new tree seedlings and cuttings. Among them, the seedlings include Miyazaki, Bari-4, Q-J, purple mango, amrapalli and about 20-25 types of mango seedlings, orange, malta, lemon, cherry, karamcha, amalaki, safeda, jackfruit seedlings, which can also be planted on the roof in drums, big jam, Vietnamese coconut and hundreds of other fruit seedlings. About 50 types of flower seedlings including kath golam, madabi, cherry, cardamom, cinnamon, bay leaf, green chili and various spices. Vegetable seedlings including sajna, brinjal, papaya, zinga, barbati, beans, gourd, pumpkin, brinjal, zinga, dhundal, chilli, etc. are available every twelve months according to the season. 15 types of seedlings including gritakamal, neem, arjun, ataghi. 15-20 types of seedlings are available such as mahogany, raintree, chapalish, akashmani, teak, garjan, pabangach. In total, he is able to supply the required seedlings every twelve months. However, these seedlings are being sold in all seasons, monsoon, autumn, and winter.
He said that this year, crossing the district boundary, he has benefited by planting a huge garden of Miyazaki mango on 180 acres of land in Pachangariya village of Pasitala in Bogra district. He is currently a self-sufficient nursery entrepreneur in this entire district. By providing people with fresh, pure fruits, flowers, and vegetables, everyone can live healthily. At the same time, he aims to build a green Bangladesh by eliminating oxygen deficiency through green afforestation. This will benefit the country, the nation, and the individual. Meanwhile, he has received various crests and awards in the district for his success.
