Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud Wednesday said noted singer and composer Subir Nandi will remain alive in the hearts of country’s people through his songs.
“Subir Nandi will remain alive through his songs. The people of the country will never forget his songs,” he said while addressing a memorial meeting for Subir Nandi as the chief guest at a hotel in the capital, reports BSS. Bangladesh Cultural Reporters’ Association (BCRA) organized the memorial meeting followed by an iftar mahfil. Former president of Jatiya Press Club Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman, MP, addressed the programme as the main speaker, said a press release.
Dr Hasan, also publicity and publication secretary of the ruling Awami League, said legendary singer Subir Nandi sang more than 2,500 songs in his career. He (Subir Nandi) presented numerous songs on Bangladesh Betar, Bangladesh Television and films, the minister added. Dr Hasan prayed for salvation of the departed soul of Subir Nandi and conveyed deep sympathy to members of the bereaved family.
