The long labor dissatisfaction of Style Craft Ltd and Young Ones Bangladesh Ltd garment factories are coming to an end. The two factories reopen on August 25. On this day, the arrears of wages of the workers and employees will also be paid.
A press release from the Ministry of Labour and Employmenton Thursday said that the long-standing stalemate of the two garment factories in Gazipur has come to an end by the tireless efforts of the state minister for labor and the sincerity of employer-worker representatives. Both workers and employers have expressed satisfaction with the successful decision reached through negotiations.
According to the press release, the factory will be opened on August 25. On this day, workers and employees will be paid the salary of June.At the same time, the workers will be given arrears of salary for the month of December 2020 and the bonus for last Eid-ul-Azha.
It was also mentioned in the press release that on September 5, the employees will be paid the salary for the month of November 2020 and on September 25 the salary for the month of July.
The salary for the month of Augustand the arrears for the month of March will be paid on October 20.
A tripartite meeting between employers-workers and the government was held at the Secretariat on Wednesday night.
The meeting was chaired byState Minister for Labor and Employment Begum MannujanSufian.
At the meeting, workers and representatives of various government agencies mentioned the labor unrest of the factories as the grief of Gazipur.
Secretary-in-charge of the Ministry of Labor SakiunNahar Begum, Additional Secretary Jebunnesa Karim, Inspector General of the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments Mohammad Nasir Uddin Ahmed, Director General of the Department of Labor Gautam Kumar, Joint Secretary (Labor) Mohammad NannuMolla, Gazipur City Corporation CEOAminulIslam and BGMEA President Faruque Hassan was present during the tripartite discussion, along with others.
