Students vow not to visit coaching centre

A group of secondary and primary level students in Habiganj have pledged to attend classes regularly and to avoid coaching centres. They have also taken oath to rise early in the morning, to refrain themselves from consulting the guide books and to develop an intimate relationship with books.  

Those students took the oath by raising their hands in response to the call of the the guests at the inaugural function of Book Festival held at Habiganj Government High School and BKGC Girls School in Habiganj on Wednesday morning.  The speakers at the function also called upon the guardians of the students to refrain their children from using Smart Phones  and an excessive watching of television. More than 2,000 students and their guardians were present at the functions.By receiving new books, students were seen to express joy and jubilation .

Advocate Abu Zahir, Member of Parliament of Habiganj-3 constituency inaugurated the book distribution function at Habiganj Government High School as the chief guest.  Presided over by Kamrul Hasan, Deputy Commissioner of Habiganj, the function was attended, among others, by Mohammad Ruhullah, Secondary Education Officer as the special guest, Amirul Islam, district Primary Education Officer, Alfaz Uddin, head Master of Habiganj Government High School and Sudhangshu Karmaker, Head Master of BKGC Government Girls High School. 

According to sources, this year a total 33,85,078 new text books were distributed among 6,76,000 students of 1,400 secondary  and the primary level schools of nine upazilas of the district.
