Students to be made aware of hydrophobia

13th World Rabies Day-2019 observed at CVASU

Speakers at the World Rabies Day discussion meeting said that it is only through vaccination and public awareness that it is possible to protect against hydrophobia disease. In addition to providing timely vaccination to dogs and cats, people should also receive timely vaccinations. School-college children should be made aware of hydrophobia.

The speakers said these at a seminar held at the University of Chittagong Veterinary Animal Sciences (CVASU) on the occasion of 13th World Aquatic Day 2019 on Saturday.
A colorful rally, discussion meeting and immunization program were held on CVASU campus on the occasion of World Torture Day.

A seminar was held at the CVASU Auditorium (Rabies: Vaccinate to Eliminate). Chittagong District Livestock Officer Dr Md. Reazul Haque addressed the meeting as the chief guest while Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Gautam Buddha Das addressed the meeting.

Dr Abdul Ahad, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine presented the keynote paper on the subject. The special guest was Prof. Dr. Paritosh Kumar Biswas, Director of Poultry Research and Training Center and Dr Mohammad Riyad, Senior Medical Officer. Student Welfare Director Prof Dr Mohammad Mezbah Uddin spoke on the occasion. Veterinary hospitals provide free vaccines to teachers, staff and students. Rabies vaccine is also given to dogs.

During the discussion, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Gautam Buddha Das said that CVASU will take special initiatives to liberate the city of Chittagong by providing public awareness and vaccination. Separate programs will also be taken to make the students aware of the school. He said that these programs will be implemented in collaboration with Chittagong City Corporation and District Livestock Department.

Speakers at the event said that according to the World Health Organization, the prevalence of hydrophobia is spread in about 150 countries around the world. The world is working to liberate the Rabies by 2030. There is a government-private-level program to liberate Bangladesh from the Rabies.
