Students and guardians of Noakhali High School in Harinarayanpur, under Noakhali Municipality, staged a human chain and sit-in protest on Sunday morning, demanding the removal of the school's head teacher, Mahmud Royad. The demonstration began around 10:30 AM in front of the District Commissioner's office after students boycotted their classes. The protest lasted for about an hour.

Students alleged that Mahmud Royad, who joined the school as head teacher in 2012, has long been involved in unethical practices, including forcing students into private coaching in exchange for large sums of money. They claimed that students who refused were deliberately failed in exams. Royad was also accused of misbehaving with fellow teachers, students, and school staff. Additionally, he has allegedly collected extra fees under various pretexts such as admissions and forms.

Both students and guardians stated that they have faced harassment for raising their voices against these activities. A similar protest was held earlier on 2nd September, but no action was taken, prompting them to protest again.

Attempts to contact Mahmud Royad for a response were unsuccessful, as he could not be reached for comment.
