Students of Alukdia Romela Khatun Girls’ High School in Chuadanga Sadar Upazila staged a protest march and blocked the Chuadanga-Meherpur road at Alukdia Bazar on Wednesday, demanding the resignation of Headteacher Md. Akhtaruzzaman over alleged irregularities. Police intervened and prevented the road blockade, after which the students returned to the school.
The students alleged that the headteacher threatened to fail them if they did not attend coaching sessions. They also claimed he mistreated them, threatened to hit them with sticks, and warned of expulsion through transfer certificates.
When asked, Md. Akhtaruzzaman denied all allegations. He said the school operates from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., but the students refused to follow the schedule, prompting them to protest on the road.
