Students in Moulvibazar get new textbooks

Although there is no book festival in Moulvibazar, new books have been handed over to the students in primary, secondary and equivalent educational institutions on the first day of the year. This time the books will be distributed among the students in 1,002 primary, 212 secondary and 92 madrasas in phases.

Deputy Commissioner Mir Nahid Ahsan handed over new books to students of Ali Amjad Government Girls High School, Ali Amjad Government Primary School and Moulvibazar Government High School in Moulvibazar district on Saturday morning. Primary and secondary district education officers and teachers were present at the time. Books are being distributed among fifth and sixth grade students. Books will be distributed among the students of other classes in phases. Every year the students receive books by participating in the festivities and festivities in the decorated educational institution, but this year one class book is being given. Authorities say such measures have been taken to prevent Covid-19 infection. Students happy to get new books. The students rejoiced in the educational institution.

A guardian Upma Shelley has brought her daughter to pick up the book. She said, 'Everyone is being given books in compliance with the health rules. Students will concentrate on reading and writing on the first day of the year.’

Asifa Chowdhury, a sixth grade student, said that although there was no big event, it was very nice to get a new book on the first day of the year.

Ali Amjad Government Girls High School teacher Kallol Dev said, the total number of students in our school is 1,160. Of these, only books for class six students are being given on the first day of the year.

Piklu Das, a teacher at Baneshri Government Primary School, said only fifth grade books had been distributed today. The rest will be done in phases.

District Primary Education Officer Shamsur Rahman said that although the book festival is held every year, it is not happening as a result of corona this year. Books are being distributed in 1,002 primary schools in the district. 13 lakh 26 thousand 530 books will be given to 2 lakh 89 thousand 55 students in the district.

District Education Officer Mohammad Fazlur Rahman said that books will be handed over to all students in 212 secondary schools and 92 madrasas in phases. There is a demand of 36 lakh 32 thousand 60 books for secondary schools and madrasas in the district.

Deputy Commissioner Mir Nahid Ahsan, who was present as the chief guest at the book distribution, said the festival was not going to be held this year due to Covid-19 like every year. However, the government has maintained this continuity of book distribution on January 1. Giving books to children on the first day of the new year is a great achievement of the government.
