Students, guardians, mass people hold victory procession in Rangpur

Thousands of students, along with guardians and the mass people, joined the victory and joyous procession in Rangpur on Monday after the resignation of Sheikh Hasina from her position as Prime Minister and her leaving from the country.

The main roads of Rangpur division, as well as various other areas became full with joyous procession around 4:30 pm on Monday.

When the news of Sheikh Hasina’s resignation and leaving from country spread through Rangpur, students, guardians and mass people came out at the streets to celebrate it with joy. A large of number students, guardians and people joined the procession with the national flag in their hands. They were chanting various slogans at that time. Their expression was as if Bangladesh has become independent again.

A guardian of a student, Aslam who came to the procession, said “It felt like we were subjugated in our own country under the rule of Awami League government. Today, it feels like the country has become independent again and we are breathing fresh air. We are talking and laughing openly. Nothing can fell better than this.” 

Rickshaw puller Tofazzal Hossain from Shalbon Mistri area of Rangpur city said whatever Allah does, He does it for good. It feels good to hear that Sheikh Hasina has fled the country. People were fed up with her regime for a long time now.

The victory procession was brought out in the afternoon. Thousands of people spontaneously joined the procession and chanted slogans with the national flag in their hands.

People cheered for the victory by blowing whistles at Modern Road, Park intersection, Satmatha Road, Jahaj company intersection, Begum Rokeya University area, Labagh intersection near Carmichael College, Khamar intersection and Kahari Bazar in Rangpur City. Various statues, including the mural of Bangabandhu, were demolished at that time.
