Students from Ideal School and College in Dhanmondi staged a demonstration on Sunday afternoon by blocking the Science Lab intersection, demanding justice for a fellow student who died in a recent road accident.
The demonstration brought traffic in the area to a standstill, resulting in severe congestion.
Police sources said that Arshad, a student of Ideal College, was killed about a month ago after being hit by a truck near Banglamotor.
Although the driver was initially arrested, he was later released on bail—prompting outrage among Arshad's classmates.
Around 1:30 PM, students gathered at the busy intersection and began blocking the road, calling for the truck driver’s re-arrest and exemplary punishment.
Dhanmondi Police Patrol Inspector Mosharraf Hossain said that police were able to persuade the students to leave the road peacefully.
Traffic flow resumed shortly afterward, he added.
