Rupganj Correspondent: A student gathering was held in Rupganj, Narayanganj, to raise awareness about safe road use among young people. The event was organised by Nirapad Sarak Chai (We Demand Safe Roads), a national movement formed with the slogan “Roads for Peace, Not for Death.”
The rally took place on Saturday morning at the auditorium of Jamia Hashemia Imdadul Ulum Nahati Madrasa in the Nahati area of Bhulta Union. It was part of a month-long programme marking National Road Safety Day 2025, arranged by the Narayanganj District branch of the organisation.
The meeting was chaired by Madrasa leader Mufti Imdadul Hashemi. Speakers included District General Secretary Zaman Mia, social worker Nazrul Islam, Vice-President Mohammad Golam Sadek, Joint Secretary and journalist Sohel Kiran, Office Secretary Hafizur Rahman, Publication Secretary Ramzan Mridha, and Executive Member Habibullah.
Speakers stressed that thousands of people die every year in road accidents across the country, while many others are left permanently disabled. “One accident brings lifelong grief,” they said, adding that victims are not the only ones who suffer — their families bear the pain too. They urged everyone, especially students, to follow traffic rules and act responsibly on the roads. With collective awareness, they believed road accidents could be greatly reduced.
