Experts at a workshop on Wednesday stressed fostering collaboration between different sectors, paving the way for initiatives that will contribute to greener and more sustainable agriculture in the region.
They preferred to set the stage for meaningful advancements in promoting agricultural sustainability in Bangladesh by the private sector.
The workshop on "Private Sector Engagement – Lead Firms" took place at the BARC Auditorium, Farmgate, Dhaka. The International Fertilizer Development Center’s CSA Project organized this event.
The workshop brought together a diverse group of distinguished professionals from the public and private sectors.
Wahida Akter, Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), delivered her speech as the Chief Guest of the workshop. Dr. Shaikh Mohammad Bokhtiar, Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC), addressed the audience as the Chairperson; and Reed J.
Aeschliman, Mission Director of USAID, expressed his views as the Special Guest of the occasion. Industry leaders from the leading private companies and commercial banks in Bangladesh were notably present at the workshop.
Representatives from a diversified array of public agencies under the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) graced the occasions, namely Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC), Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC), Agriculture Information System (AIS), Seed Certification Agency (SCA), Soil Resources Development Institute (SRDI), Department of Agricultural Marketing (DAM), Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture (BINA), Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI), and Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI).
