Strict security steps taken ahead of Eid

Strict security measures have been taken by Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) to keep the overall security situation fair, safe and disciplined in the city on the occasion of upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. CMP has taken additional measures to ensure hassle-free sale and purchase of cattle, purchase, sale and transportation of rawhide, to prevent use of fake notes and monitor overall law and order in cattle markets of Chattogram.

A views-exchange meeting was held in this regard at Dampara Police Lines conference room in the city on Thursday.

Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner (Additional IGP) Krishna Pada Roy presided over the discussion.

Besides the regular mobile teams of the police stations, temporary police camp, temporary police control room, fake note detection booth, plainclothes police force, watch tower, medical camp, money escort and own volunteer facilities will be ensured at each animal market.

Special arrangements have also been made for cattle markets. Measures have been taken to ensure that none can take cattle trucks forcibly to any market, none can set up cattle markets at any place other than the granted markets, none can trade of illegal poles, empty animal trucks do not carry passengers while returning and so on.

Special arrangements have also been made regarding the purchase, sale and transportation of the rawhide of sacrificial animals. Measures have also been taken to stop rawhide smuggling and extortion of transportation. No syndicates can create obstacles in the sale and purchase of rawhide of the sacrificial animals.

Moreover, separate security measures have been taken to ensure maximum safety of the city dwellers at each Eid Jamaat. Additional precautionary measures have been taken for the security of the residential areas during the Eid holidays.

Meanwhile, CMP Additional Police Commissioner (Administration and Finance) ASM Mahatab Uddin, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime and Operations) Abdul Mannan Miah,  Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Masud Ahmmed, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters) Md Abdul Warish (Addl DIG) and other senior officials of CMP, District Administration, Civil Surgeon Office, CCC, Intelligence Agency, Bangladesh Bank, WASA, PDB, RAB and Fire Service representatives, lessee of several animal markets (haats) and public representatives were present at the meeting.
