There is no alternative to strict lockdown to stopdeath  as the coronavirus epidemic has escalated in the country. Therefore, the Bangladesh National Awami Party (Bangladesh NAP) has called on the government to cancel the decision to open everything and implement a strict lockdown for at least the next 30 days.

In a statement on Thursday, party chairman Jebel Rahman Ghaani and secretary general M Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan made this appeal.

They said that according to official data, more than 55,000 people have been infected with Covid-19  and about 800 people have died. However, in such a  situation, from May 31, all the offices, including public transport, were opened in a ‘limited scope’ in compliance with the health rules which is already proving to be a dangerous decision.

The NAP leaders added that the longer the government delays the implementation of the "severe lockdown", the more the situation will spiral out of control.

The list of the dead will continue to increase. In order to enforce the lockdown, it has become necessary for the law enforcement agencies, including the military, to take swift action with the necessary powers and authority.

At the same time, to make the lockdown effective, the government must ensure that food items  for the next 30 days.
