State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali directed the managing director of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to take departmental action by compiling a list of those who will neglect their duties.
He gave this instruction while inspecting the overall activities of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport including baggage area, customs and immigration area, area designated for RT PCR from 12.30 pm to 2.45 pm on Wednesday. At this time he spoke to the passengers arriving at the airport. He also asked them if they have any complaints about passenger services at the airport.
The Minister of State directed the Executive Director of the Airport to assign one trolley man to each belt in the baggage area to provide information on passenger trolleys. He Instructed the customs and immigration officials to provide speedy and professional service, the state minister said that passengers need to be provided speedy service. In no way can the service be interrupted or the work stopped. In order to ensure the quality of passenger service, the people of all the organizations working at the airport have to work in a united and cooperative manner. Mentioning that various flights are delayed due to time consuming customs checking of transit passengers of different destinations, the state minister said that customs checking of transit passengers should be completed on priority basis. If necessary, separate desks and queues should be arranged for them. When the manpower crisis of the customs was mentioned at that time, the state minister talked to the concerned authorities and assured to take immediate action.
The state minister also directed the authorities to set up kiosks in the area designated for RT PCR within the next one week to prevent passenger harassment and to manage the examination sequence.
During this time, he inquired about the quality and price of food in the shops set up in the area designated for testing. He also warned the business community that strict action would be taken if passengers were cheated in any way.
The state minister said information would be sought from regular airlines on whether the flight attendants at the check-in counter were on time. He said that if anyone deliberately delays or neglects his duty, extreme action will be taken against him. There will be no job at the counter at the specified time. No compromise with passenger service. No excuses will be accepted in this case.
Sajjad Hossain, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Dr Abu Saleh Mostafa Kamal, Managing Director and CEO, Abu Saleh Mahmud Mannafi, Member (Security) of Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority, AHM Touhidul Ahsan, Executive Director of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and other officials were present during the visit.
