Bangladesh Railway (BR) will resume operations of passenger trains on a limited scale from tomorrow (Thursday) (August 1), around two weeks after the service was suspended.
Some local, mail and commuter trains will be operated on the short distance routes during the break of the ongoing curfew, Railways Minister Zillul Hakim said on Tuesday. However, no decision regarding the intercity train service was taken,
Rail communication has remained suspended since July 18 in the face of obstruction in Dhaka’s Mohakhali amid the quota reform movement. According to the authorities, the unrest damaged railway lines in different parts of the country. The railway officials say they cannot allow the so-called protesters to destroy trains, and coaches. Some elements are deliberately perpetrating acts of sabotage targeting the trains and railway tracks at different places of the country during the nationwide mayhem unleashed by BNP-Jamaat-Shibir.

Different vested interest groups, anti-liberation and communal forces and killers of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman led by BNP-Jmaat-Shibir leaders know that they have no chance to go to power. That is why, they are hatching conspiracies and now, they are busy carrying out acts of sabotage and anarchies.
We express deep concern about the frequent acts of sabotage like cutting of railway track and setting fire to train during the mayhem. We also have witnessed terrors setting fire to trains at different places of the country.
Earlier many people lost their lives in the fire while the bogies of the trains were completelyburnt. This is part of BNP-Jamaat-Shibir’s plan of sabotage acts of sabotage and mayhem across the country. Intelligence surveillance has been increased by deploying plain clothes officers and forces in different spots of the railways, trains, and railway stations to collect information in advance (intelligence).
