Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao's movie 'Stree 2' has made a new record even before its release. The film is set to hit theaters today, 15th August, which is also India's Independence Day. The horror-comedy by Maddock Films has seen an impressive start with its advance bookings.
According to reports, 'Stree 2' has collected Rs 11.60 crore in advance bookings for the first day. This is the highest amount for any Hindi film in 2024. The movie has already sold over 300,000 tickets, showing how eagerly fans are waiting for it.
Earlier this year, Prabhas' 'Kalki 2898 AD' and Hrithik Roshan's 'Fighter' held the record for advance bookings, with collections of Rs 8.59 crore and Rs 8.60 crore, respectively. However, 'Stree 2' has surpassed these numbers, making it the biggest opening day advance booking for a Hindi film this year.
Film trade analysts believe that 'Stree 2' could cross Rs 15 crore in advance bookings by tomorrow, possibly surpassing Shahrukh Khan's 'Dunki.'
The excitement around 'Stree 2' is due to the success of its predecessor. In 2018, 'Stree' was released and became a superhit, earning Rs 129 crore in India. The movie, directed by Amar Kaushik, starred Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor and was well-received by audiences. Fans have been eagerly waiting for the sequel, which brings back the original cast, including Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Banerjee.
With such strong advance bookings, 'Stree 2' is expected to have a successful opening and may become one of the biggest hits of the year.
