Storytelling night ‘Grameen Kichchha Pala’ held

A storytelling night ‘Grameen Kichchha Pala’ was held on Thursday evening (November 18) in front of the thousand-year-old historical Jainteshwari Bari at Jaintiapur upazila in Sylhet. 

Rural, local and classic stories were told at the event from the evening to midnight. Storytellers of the event narrated many traditional tales and the stories of Bengal which are almost going to be lost.  

Many artists at the events narrated the tales of love, heroism, respect and moral integrity through storytelling. The audience enjoyed the event.

The exceptional event ‘Grameen Kichchha Pala’ was arranged by the Organisation of Youth to Save Heritage and Environment (OYSHE).  

Prof Khairul Islam, Dean of Business Administration at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), attended the inaugural session as the chief guest with colum

 nist and researcher Abdul Hye Al-Hadi in the chair.

 Prof Dr AFM Zakaria, Chairman of Anthropology Department at SUST, spoke on the occasion as special guest, while it was attended, among others, by Md Tajim Uddin, College Inspector of SUST, Sahed Ahmed, former President of Jaintiapur Press Club, journalists Belal Ahmed, Abdul Halim, Sohel Ahmed, Tofail Ahmed, Mir Shoaib, businessman Elias Uddin Lipu and photographer Hossain Mia.

Anwar Hossain Sohag moderated the storytelling event, where stories were told by Farid Uddin and his team. Local artist Sabul and his team also performed at the event. 

Prof Manoj Kumar Sen, Nurul Islam, President of Jaintiapur Press Club, Hanif Ahmed, General Secretary of the club, and Helal Ahmed, Superintendent of Amina Helali Technical Institute, spoke at the closing ceremony of the programme.
