Stocks maintain gaining streak

Country's both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) on Sunday also witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 18.70 points or 0.29 per cent to settle at 6,531.59. The DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 3.40 points to finish at 2,333.82 and 3.82 points closing at 1,423.55.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 15334.08 million on the country's premier bourse which was Taka 12169.54 million.

Out of 373 issues traded, 115 closed green, 81 in the red and 177 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

Orion Pharma topped the turnover chart, followed by Beximco, EHL, JHRML and BBS.

ILFSL was the day's best performer, posting a gain of 10 per cent while SEAPEARL was the worst loser, losing 7.12 percent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -advancing 70.92 points to settle at 19,260.20 and the

Selective Categories Index - CSCX gaining 43.42 points to close at 11,545.76.

Of the issues traded, 89 advanced, 55 declined and 103 remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city's bourse traded 73.05 lakh shares and mutual fund units with a turnover value of Taka 29.26 crore.
