Stocks maintain gaining streak

Country's both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) on Thursday also witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 4.31 points or 0.07 per cent to settle at 6,341.09. The DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 2.67 points to finish at 2,197.03 and 4.67 points closing at 1,379.42.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, decreased to Taka 7,508.56 million on the country's premier bourse which was Taka 8,551.97 million at the previous session of the week.

Out of 369 issues traded, 79 closed green, 106 in the red and 184 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

FUEANGFOOD topped the turnover chart, followed by Delta Life, Square Pharma, LRBDL and AOL.

 FUWANGFOOD was the day's best performer, posting a gain of 10 per cent while PROGRESLIFG was the worst loser, losing 9.90 percent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -advancing 13.64 points to settle at 18,731.88 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX gaining 8.40 points to close at 11,188.28.

Of the issues traded, 69 advanced, 60 declined and 83 remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city's bourse traded 57.97 lakh shares and mutual fund units with a turnover value of Taka 15.74 crore.
