Country's both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) on Tuesday also witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 5.60 points or 0.09 per cent to settle at 6,228.65. The DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 0.78 point to finish at 2,202.85 and 0.81 point closing at 1,349.40.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 5,585.42 million on the country's premier bourse which was Taka 4,435.82 million at the previous session of the week.
Gainers took a modest lead over the losers, as out of 316 issues traded, 72 closed green, 47 in the red and 197 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
NAVANAPHAR was the day's best performer, posting a gain of 9.93 per cent while ORIONINFU was the worst loser, losing 6.75 percent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -advancing 12.90 points to settle at 18,353.70 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX gaining 6.90 points to close at 10,999.89.
Of the issues traded, 36 advanced, 26 declined and 56 remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city's bourse traded 10.10 lakh shares and mutual fund units with a turnover value of Taka 5.71 crore.
